Alfred E. Plant Senior Housing | Elmgrove Apartments

Alfred E. Plant Senior Housing is located at 759 Farmington Avenue in West Hartford. This federally funded (HUD) development is home to 115 residents. There are 93 units comprised of 89 one-bedroom apartments and 4 studio units. Ten one-bedroom units are specifically adapted for residents with mobility impairments. Residents of this community pay 30% of their adjusted gross income for their rent and utilities. The site operates at 100% occupancy.

The Housing Authority leases space within the building to the Whiting Lane Extended Day Care, which provides before and after school care for children aged five through eleven.

The on-site social worker provides information and referrals, assists in linking clients to programs and provides some counseling for both residents and their families.

The community room serves several functions for our residents. This furnished room attracts residents who seek interaction in the form of conversation, a chess game, bingo or pot luck suppers. Residents are also welcome to browse the shelves of donated books.
